The goal of the event is simple: Create technological lean startups over the course of three days. This is an opportunity for you to see the caliber of our participants and what promises to be an impressive set of pitches and prototypes for new companies. We hope to provide young entrepreneurs with the opportunity to experience getting their hands dirty working at a technology startup.
The event is designed to build entrepreneurial skills in an extreme hands-on environment and will include a few boot camps and guest speaker sessions in the beginning. The event will create a living entrepreneurship laboratory on the university campus by bringing together students ranging from freshmen to freshly-minted PhDs, with diverse backgrounds, including business, computer science engineers, marketing and others. Participants will gain experience in cross-disciplinary collaboration, brainstorming, and group productivity, including ad-hoc leadership and decision-making under severe time constraints. The resulting experience will be similar to working with a budding startup company and will give teams enough momentum to actualize their startups.
Bringing 40 entrepreneurial-minded students together for a weekend to start a company is an intense educational and collaborative experience. The success of the companies coming out of the 3 Day Startup event is due, in large part, to a network of supporters, sponsors, mentors and judges. We hope that you can join us and help us continue to foster this network. We know of many people with great ideas who fail to follow through with their plans for a variety of reasons: lack of time or money, no access to the right people, or not enough confidence to make the plunge. We provide all of the resources to bring an idea to life with the help of 39 other highly skilled and motivated individuals.
3 Day Startup is a great way to get the community excited about entrepreneurship and to spend an intense weekend with creative people who want to bring an idea to life as opposed to sitting back and listening to yet another talk about entrepreneurship. It’s also a social and business experiment to see how much a group of passionate people can accomplish over the course of 60 hours.
